    "result": {"pageContext":{"pagePath":"/trials/NCT04577573","trial":{"nct_id":"NCT04577573","brief_title":"Cognitive-based Prosthetics to Improve Grasp and Reaching After SCI","official_title":"Cognitive-based Rehabilitation Platform of Hand Grasp After Spinal Cord Injury Using Virtual Reality and Instrumented Wearables","about_trial":"This trial is enrolling individuals with cervical (neck area) spinal cord injuries to test the effect of a rehabilitation technique that increases awareness of movement (cognitive engagement). Participants will use a specially designed glove and arm brace (cognition glove and sensory brace). The cognition glove has sensors that alert the user when a secure grasp is achieved. The sensory brace sends a feedback signal to the arm as the user performs a reaching movement in virtual reality (a computer-generated, 3-dimensional space that a user can interact with using special goggles and gloves). Arm and hand function will be measured for level of movement success and accuracy, as well as for the time needed to perform a movement.\n\nParticipants will perform different arm and hand movements, with or without feedback, to increase awareness of the movements. Outcomes will be assessed at each testing session. Outcomes may be improved by techniques that strengthen cognitive connections between users and physical therapy exercises.\n\nThe investigators will investigate combinations of virtual reality and innovative wearable technology to accelerate rehabilitation of hand grasp and reach. These devices use multi-sensory feedback to enhance the sense of agency, or feelings of control, and better train movements during physical rehabilitation exercises.
